Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom has reported net income of TWD45.33 billion (USD1.37 billion) for 2008, down 6% from TWD48.25 billion the year before. Revenues for the year rose just 0.3% to TWD186.8 billion. The results have still to be audited.
Chunghwa Telecom has reported revenues of TWD15.87 billion (USD477.7 million) for December 2008, taking total sales for the full year to TWD186.78 billion, up just 0.2% on the 2007 figure. Mobile communications brought in 38.7% of the total, according to figures published by DigiTimes. Chunghwa has around 8.9 million cellular customers, 1.07 million FTTx customers and 520,000 8Mbps ADSL subscribers. Mobile operator rivals Taiwan Mobile and Far EasTone (FET) have also reported their preliminary 2008 financial results; Taiwan Mobile saw revenues of TWD69.36 billion and net profit of TWD15.37 billion, while FET had sales of TWD62.51 billion and profits of TWD10.16 billion.
